I bought some new art supplies the other day in preparation for my upcoming summer science illustration class. I had to try them out, so I started working on a piece for the Ventana Wilderness Alliance raffle. I used masking compound first to block out all of the white spaces on the bird, then shaded in the basic colors with watercolor. Once it all dried, I could remove the compound and paint in the details.
